When our client, Van Dolder's Kitchen and Bath, came to us, they didn't like the look, feel, and functionality of their existing WordPress website design, and wanted an update. Not only did they want to refresh the look, but they were also looking for updated copy as well as functionality updates including project profiles and online appointment scheduling.

Whenever we build or rebuild a website, we take the time to truly understand who our clients are, what makes them unique in the marketplace, what they are trying to accomplish with their website, and who they are trying to attract.

Once we have this information, we review their website through the eyes of their ideal clients, thinking about what we’d want to see on their website and what would make us inclined to reach out to them. We also review their site for the following:

SEO

To begin with, we examined their current keyword strategy to determine if they were using the right keywords to attract their target audience and if their content could be improved to increase their organic traffic.

Next, we did a keyword research analysis prior to rewriting their content to ensure that we knew the right mix of keywords to incorporate for maximum SEO value.

We then moved their website over to the HubSpot CMS platform, which includes overall content strategy as well as on-page SEO tools built into blog, landing page, and website page creation. This allows anyone on their team to optimize content for search right from the start, helping to get their brand displayed prominently in search results.

Design

We reviewed their existing website design to determine if it was in line with their brand and who they were trying to attract, as well as details such as whether the font was easy for website visitors to read. From there, we developed a new design with high-quality imagery to make it visually appealing.

Functionality

We also examined whether their existing site was easy to navigate and whether it was easy for visitors to reach out to them. We took these things into account, along with the requests we had from the client, and implemented the following:

  • We moved their site from WordPress to HubSpot, giving them a platform for storing leads and marketing their business, while also providing more tools to engage with website visitors and promote a better user experience.
  • We showed them how to update their website on their own, if needed. We also showed them how to access and interpret their data and analytics in HubSpot to drive their marketing efforts.
  • We simplified their navigation to make it easier for visitors to gather information.
  • We added a HubSpot booking calendar so prospects can easily book design consultations online. These contacts are then automatically added to HubSpot’s CRM!

Content

In reviewing their content, we were looking to determine if it was easy to understand and using the right tone of voice. We also wanted to ensure it included enough information to make website visitors want to engage with them. With that information, we implemented the following:

  • We StoryBranded their messaging to make it easy for prospects to relate their needs to Van Dolder’s solutions.
  • We created brand-new, simplified messaging and got rid of “filler” content that cluttered the previous website.
  • We provided more information about each of their services, including details about the scope of each service.
  • We created a brand-new portfolio with eye-catching imagery and descriptions of past projects.
  • We added an “Our Team” section with photos and bios of each team member.
  • We added clear action steps so prospects can easily book consultations online.

The Results

Within the first two weeks of their website launch, they had four design consultations booked! In our client's own words:

"Wild Fig helped us re-design and move our website to HubSpot from WordPress. A website rebuild can be a ton of work, but they made it easier by setting a timeline and working hard to stick to it with consistent follow up. Each meeting was followed up with clear action items to keep me on track doing my part to keep the process moving. Great communication made the process as painless as possible. I would certainly recommend Wild Fig for a website rebuild!" ~Derek Van Dolder, General Manager
