This holiday season, show your clients you care…by making them laugh and sharing some holiday cheer!

It’s that time of year! No, I don’t mean scaling the roof to hang Christmas lights. It’s time to celebrate the wins and growth of the past 12 months before diving headlong into the new year. And what better way to celebrate than to send your clients a heartfelt thank-you for their business and wishes for a happy holiday season?

Even better: put a smile on their face with a fun, festive email!

Stand out from the crowd of seasonal email campaigns with these very merry client holiday emails.

1. Animated Greeting Card

It’s all too easy to run out of time during this most hectic of seasons. But that doesn’t mean you have to forgo sending a fun holiday email to your client list.

For a quick and easy (yet hilarious) way to wish your clients a happy holiday, try using an e-card site like Jibjab. On this site, you can plug your team’s photos into funny videos: Pop their faces onto dancing elves, reindeer, or a slew of other characters who dance and sing along to holiday tunes. It’s sure to give your clients a good laugh.

Spread the joy even further by sharing your video on your social media accounts!

2. Christmas Karaoke

Have some talented vocalists on your team? Or even better…some not-so-talented ones? Record your team members singing holiday tunes karaoke style! Fire up the karaoke machine, gather your team, and hit record on your iPhone. Make it extra festive with ugly holiday sweaters, reindeer antlers, tinsel, and Santa hats.

Pro tip: Include captions in your final video to encourage your audience to sing along!

3. Blooper Reel

If you filmed any videos for social media this year, there’s a good chance you had your fair share of bloopers and outtakes. Compile them all into a blooper reel and include the video in your holiday email! You’re definitely going to want to share this one on social media too.

Note: This one takes some planning and editing time, so if you can’t do it this year, start saving your bloopers for next year’s video!

4. Holiday Recipe Roundup

Is your team always swapping recipes and talking about that amazing dish they made for dinner the other night? If so, harness that enthusiasm for your holiday client email. Have each of your staff offer their favorite recipes and gather them all into a PDF to send to your list. Better yet, you can use a site like Flipsnack to turn your PDF into a digital flipbook!

5. Staff Favorites Gift Guide

Similarly, gather your team’s best gift ideas! Help those stumped last-minute shoppers find a great gift for their loved one with your team members’ recommendations.

For example, have your team share the best books they’ve read this year, their favorite electronics, their kids’ favorite toys, the best pet products they bought this year…you get the idea. You can tie this to your industry or not — it’s up to you!

Compile a complete guide for one category of gifts, or highlight each team member’s suggestion from any category, along with a photo of them and one of the item they’re recommending. Include links to the items in the email so recipients can shop right from your email!

Tips for Sending Effective Client Holiday Emails

Now that we’ve got your creative juices flowing, it’s time to write your client holiday email! As you write, keep the following tips in mind:

  • Thank your clients for their business this year. A little gratitude goes a long way toward making your clients feel appreciated.
  • Don’t try to sell something. You can do that in all your other emails throughout the year, but selling in your holiday email will only make you seem inauthentic. Focus on gratitude and holiday wishes.
  • Invite everyone to the party. There are SO MANY holidays happening this time of year, so it’s important to make sure everyone feels seen and valued. Instead of naming a specific holiday, put them all under a “happy holidays” banner so it’s relevant for your entire list. That said, if you really want to say “Merry Christmas,” “Happy Hannukkah,” etc., go for it — just make sure to include everyone else as well (“Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday Season!” or something similar).
  • Share your out-of-office plans somewhere in the email. Everyone takes time off this season, so it’s a good idea to let your clients know when you’ll be out celebrating. Your signature line is a great spot for this.

Now, all that’s left to do is to create your very own festive client holiday email! We’d love to hear which idea sparked your interest — tag us on Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn, or leave us a comment below to let us know what you did for your client emails this holiday season!
